Goniopora coral is often referred to as "flower pot" or marguerite coral. This name refers to what it looks like when all the polyps are opened. Gonioporas, when open, take on the appearance of a bouquet of flowers. It is rounded and spherical in shape and should not be confused with its more branched relatives. Gonipora are not overly aggressive, but they should always keep a certain distance between themselves and other neighboring corals. The polyps can develop into battle tentacles that reach well beyond the base into the reef tank.
Goniopora such as the Goniopora Galaxy are becoming increasingly popular because animals that have grown up in aquarium conditions are easy to keep and are particularly attractive. Take a look at our Goniopora section and have the flowers of the sea delivered straight to your home.
